Table Tennis is a sport that can be enjoyed by all, it doesnt matter how old you are, how fit you are, what sex you are, what disabilities you have, or what level you play at. The sport helps everyone maintain levels of fitness and health, and is played in a friendly atmosphere. Indeed the Senior section take socialising very seriously, and organise meals, darts and skittle nights throughout the year.
The club meets every Monday night The Dragon (junior) section from 5.30pm - 7pm, then Seniors from 7pm - 9pm. (The Seniors insist on a tea break at 8pm, which in this age of equality is made by Graham and Arron, not our female members!).
All standards of players are catered for, from those wanting to play socially, to those in training for league or tournament success.
Last August we were able to start the Dragon section, with funding from Communities First, Neil O'Connell recieved training as a Level 1 Coach with the Table Tennis Association of Wales (TTAW). Although slow to start, there are now 14 youngsters regularly turning up from complete beginners to those who already have league and tournament trophies to their name.
There are other clubs in the area including a large club run by Table Tennis legend Gerald Watkins in Abertillery Comprehensive School 7pm - 9pm Wednesdays and Fridays.
So you have no excuse! pick up a bat and get playing!
